    How To Be Consistent When You’re ADHD

    Why did I decide to write a post about how to be consistent when I am not consistent.

    And here lies the problem.

    I am consistent

    I consistently go gym

    I consistently get up

    I consistently make food for my kids

    Consistently means something different to different people

    And that difference made me totally hate the word consistency

    My hate for consistency

    Honestly, I  used to dislike the phrase ‘be consistent’ or the word ‘consistency; it’s bandied around way too much.

    Almost like it’s the secret sauce that can make Kale taste like succulent brown stew chicken.

    Which it can’t!

    To be clear kale will never be anything close to brown stew chicken.

    You’re lucky if Kale taste even 10% like Ghana Kenkey

    Yes, the word consistency is dry.

    Let me tell you, consistency is as appealing as dry toast that has been pissed on and left over night. I avoided the word because it smelt foul and almost seemed to me that folks were saying put shit content out there as long as it’s consistent.

    It’s not the quantity of time you spend on social media it’s the quality.

    There is no point implementing a plan that doesn’t lead to your goal.

    For example you can’t make SALES without marketing because without marketing you’re invisible. You’ve heard it all before, I hear you. But all this MARKETING you are doing is supposed to do one thing. MARKETING is supposed to start an ideal SALES conversation. Marketing helps your ideal customer to know, like & trust you, if you are doing it right. So measure, measure and measure your marketing efforts because if they are not converting to help your bottom line, then you need to make some changes! So stop wasting time on social media and get more strategic, because life is too short Ruth-Ellen

    Awwww, the term ‘be consistent’ used to get more so stone cold angry!

    How do you change your own stance on being consistent?

    Well you have to do what I did,  do a complete reframe of what being consistent means, you’ve got to change your perspective

    So that the phrase consistency works for YOU rather than it working on YOU.

    Because I know my distaste for consistency was much smaller than the love I had for achieving my dreams!

    I had to step back and think of the passionate hatred I had for the word consistency and how much it was costing me

    The cost of not being consistent

    My hate for consistency was costing me results I needed in order to find out whether a strategy was effective enough.

    My hate for consistency was making my sales funnel longer than needed (losing £££££ per month)

    My hate for consistency was messing with my fulfilling my vision  and overall purpose

    Total cost of consistency = too much

    Work out what your lack of consistency is costing you.

    I had a revelation…my hate for consistency was like being on a train and getting off too early because it was taking too long to get to my destination.

    That was not only illogical but also a complete waste of time.

    ✋️ Just because the train ? has stopped it doesn’t mean it is your time to get off ?

    ?Your destination isn’t even located on the map, that is how phenomenal your vision for your future is ?

    Woooohoooo, keep going towards your destination‼️

    I also had to acknowledge my feelings and situation and get real. I have a real problem with social media and needed to take stock of what I was really doing with my life!

    So lot’s of people have used the word be consistent, but I am the type of learner that likes to go deeper, you can’t just tell me to change my behaviour because it benefits my audience, you have to involve me.

    Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn. Benjamin Franklin

    So how do you learn to be consistent when you have ADHD?

    Consistency is a skill.

    A high performance skill consists of having the right environment, ease and enjoyment in the process to engage a ADHD brain

    And in order to learn a skill, you have to be involved in the process

    The questioning process is the first step

    So here are some questions that will help you learn how to be consistent?

    The First Step In Consistency

    What stops you from being consistent?

    My Answer: Overwhelm from the experts who have conflicting messages about what I should be doing and their opinions on the way I speak, what I speak about and my imperfections

    So here’s what you need to remember…

    Then I asked my highest self, what must I do to focus on my big vision?

    Answer: Create goals?

    My immediate response was yeah but I have created goals before

    So asked yourself this question what needs to change when it comes to your goal setting technique?

    Do you need to create goals that fit in with my behaviour rather than completely change my behaviour?

    Second Step of Consistency

    Folks, boys, and girls I present DUMB goals, this is the second step

    DUMB goals is an acronym and is a concept that I first heard about from Brendon Burchard when I took one of his group coaching program (disclaimer, I like to give props where they are due).

    D = Dream

    U = Uplifting

    M = Method

    B = Behaviour

    Here is my take on the DUMB goal it is called a D.R.E.A.M.S goal inspired by Brendon

    D = Destination – Where are you going, what does that look, feel and sound like?

    R = Remarkable – Who will you become after you achieve this goal?

    E = Elevation – How will this goal help others?

    A = Attitude – Which version of me do I need to show up as?

    M = Microwave – What is going to give you instant gratification? How can I am amplify this? If you were to know the steps to get your dish hot in your mind what would they steps consist of?

    S= Swinging & Singing – What song will be my anchor to keep going no matter what?
