🚀 Quick Start
1. Install the extension
Download from Chrome Web Store or install manually from the zip file.
2. Add your API key
Get a Claude API key from console.anthropic.com and paste it in ClearTask settings.
3. Open an email
Go to Gmail or Outlook web, open any email, and click the ✨ Clarify button.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I get an API key?
For Claude (recommended): console.anthropic.com
For OpenAI: platform.openai.com
You'll need to add a payment method, but most users spend £1-3/month.
The Clarify button doesn't appear
Make sure you're on Gmail (mail.google.com) or Outlook web (outlook.office.com). The button appears when you have an email open. Try refreshing the page. If it still doesn't work, check the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions.
I get an API error
Check your API key is correct and has credit. Anthropic keys start with sk-ant-, OpenAI keys start with sk-. Make sure you've selected the right provider in settings.
How do I upgrade to Pro?
Visit the upgrade page, subscribe via Stripe, and you'll receive a licence key by email. Paste the key in ClearTask settings.
I didn't receive my licence key
Check your spam folder. Licence emails come from hello@ruth-ellen.com. If you still can't find it, contact us below with your payment email.
Is my email data safe?
Yes. Your emails are sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider (Claude or OpenAI). We never see, store, or have access to your email content. Your API key stays on your device.
Does it work with Outlook desktop?
Not yet. ClearTask works with Gmail and Outlook web (outlook.office.com, outlook.com). Desktop apps aren't supported.
Can I use this at work?
That depends on your organisation's IT policies. Check our Privacy and Security pages for documentation you can share with your IT team.
What's Access to Work?
