Additional info

Now I am not trying to be a Debbie-downer with this initial tip, but...sometimes the subconscious mind can do you a favour and give you clues as to what is holding you back. We must use doubt for good.

For example, have you ever heard your mind say, there is no way that is going to work because________ or ________?.

At this point you don’t get into a debating match with your subconscious, instead, you let it spill its guts like a child who is caught red-handed with its hand in the cookie jar. Let your subconscious spill it all, giving you all the insider information you need. In turn, you can use the information gathered from your subconscious as intel to focus on the outcome which is completing your project.

Example. The reason why I won’t complete this project is I don’t have enough knowledge on how to design
So the reason why I will complete this project is that I have sought expert advice using tools to gain knowledge from books on, outsourced some tasks on people per hour, scheduled time to learn etc..

Creating problems is easy. We do it all the time. Finding solutions, ones that last and produce good results, requires guts and care. Henry Rollins
The Solutions Map

The solution map is YOUR solution to obstacles and your solution map will look different to mine. You can stick pictures and keywords to really make it clear in your mind that you can overcome anything. This step will also trigger your mind to be solution-focused because the more you prepare now the more you train your mind to do this automatically. Plus this solution map isn’t fixed, every time you pound those obstacles into the ground you can create a new branch to remind yourself how you did it and it will give you more confidence to rinse and repeat.

Overcoming Obstacles Activity

Now we have to do some higher thinking and complete the following sentence, by creating a solution map to refer to when you get stuck (courtesy of the mind map) you will have an easy roadmap to devising solutions to obstacles, not problems.

Step 1 (obstacle) The reason why I won’t complete this project ___________________________________

Step 2 (solution) The reason why I will complete this project is because ____________________________

Step 3 (visual trigger) Now add the solution to the solution map

Doing this repeatedly will make you a solutions Jedi!!!
