Didn’t you hear we are in the lost decade for productivity Are we? Yes our productivity high has now gone, bye bye It is undeniable that social media has increased the sales buying cycle. Yeah I said it Back in the day, you weren’t looked at like a weirdo, accused of being scummy or inauthentic for simply selling.   Can you believe these are the words people use when it comes to the word sales? You would have thought you said you said something outrageous like you don’t like cats.           Back in the day…You simply took action and went over to someone, started a conversation (shock horror). And then you found some synergy and a handshake meant you started your business relationship. Back in the day…You weren’t thought of as charismatic just because you could talk to anyone (I mean come on people that trait is standard). Back in the day…You weren’t thought of as bold just because you asked for the sale over the phone (really dude?) Now we are told to nurture our leads (erm we was always nurturing). Now we have become people that have gone from being bold enough to ask questions and find out what the deal is, to skirting around the issue and feeling shamed when we finally pluck up the courage to ask for the sale. Now instead of talking to 100 people a day over the phone about how your solution can help them and pick up on social cues to customise the conversation. We now talk to 1000’s of people about their problems via video with kid gloves and make assumptions about their circumstances almost like we are trying to be their bad friend. Yes bad friend! Relationships in sales isn’t about being the bad friend who doesn’t tell them they have food on their mouth from lunch or spinach in their teeth. Real relationships in sales is telling people hey, you have spinach in your teeth now let’s do something about it, unapologetically. Sales are simple, it’s built on the foundation of relationships, information gathering and providing customised value, but somehow some of us have allowed the new tools to mess with our process. And our processes have a knock on effect on our results.   To be clear: If we are not being productive than our sales will suffer! Let me back up my thoughts with actual facts, according to the latest article in the financial times
The productivity of Britain’s workers, measured by their output per hour, fell 0.1 per cent in the second quarter after a 0.5 per cent fall in the first. Workers are slightly less productive than they were in 2007, confirming a so-called “lost decade” for productivity. Economists do not fully understand why Britain’s productivity growth has faltered since the financial crisis. Other countries have also suffered a slowdown, but the problem has been particularly acute in the UK, where workers are about 23 and 27 per cent less productive than their French and German counterparts, respectively.
Now I am not here to trump economists (after all I only studied in for a year at Brunel University). But the stats probably don’t even begin to dive deep into the stats for people that work from home, MLM, self-employed, teams that have no structure…I could go on but I think you know the picture I am painting on the canvas. So what can be done to keep your productivity high?

1. Start Taking Inspired Action to Keep Productivity High

Inaction leads to fewer results, Our need to be seen as perfect by our peers has led to more inaction than ever. Similarly, people offering their unwanted feedback in an unconstructive way has led to people feeling judged for having an original thought.
We have grammar Pokemon’s (except we don’t choose you) all over “professional” social media platforms, causing people to second guess themselves and stopping people from showing up and taking imperfect action. Forgetting that being imperfect is what connects us as human beings. Imperfect action trumps perfect inaction. Sidenote: It’s time to stand up for yourself: I refuse to apologise for my grammar! After all, I was not born with a pen in my hand (not only would that have popped a vessel or two in my mother’s womb but it would have also been also stop me from being creative).

Is there a correlation between social media increase and productivity decrease? More than likely. Am I advocating ditching all your social media activities, erm no! Haha, I am laughing because I can tell you’re saying your meetings are not boring (get lost Ruth-Ellen). That’s like me saying I am funny (I know I am not), I accept it now. The sooner you admit you have boring meetings the sooner we can all stop pretending. Here is the thing… Nobody likes a know it all (trust me). And that is why no one listens to your ideas. Because you know it all, you know the solution. But no one will follow a vision that he or she is not part of the vision and will become disengaged. You Need The Right Positivity To Stay Positive

So how do you know if you have the right negative to positive ratios so you know you have just the right amount to stay positive? Well I am glad you asked friend The exact ratio is 3:1 For every three instances of feeling gratitude and one instance of anger, guilt or embarrassment people generally flourished.   But let’s go even deeper here: Negative emotions are unintentional Often hidden Overflowing like a wave of doubt While positive emotions are much more deliberate, intentional making it seem like we have to be in a reflective state to actually tap into it So what does that mean? It means in order to say positive we must be obsessed with balancing the 3:1 ratio

To make sure I am confident I step outside of my comfort zone regularly. This pic is of me last week Friday (7th April) at my 2nd burlesque show where I created my own routine and performed in front of strangers. I would NEVER have performed burlesque before. ? I used to be the girl that would listen to a partner who told her to go change because according to him what she was wearing didn’t look good. ? I would be the girl that would be in tears if a pitch meeting went bad. I would be the girl that would go out with douches that would say if you lost a little bit of weight you would be a 10. ? Now I’m that girl that is grateful for the people that she has met, that have left and are coming into her life. ? I am the girl that fails forward but loves herself regardless. The girl that has generated over £120 million pounds in new business sales for companies like Epson, HP and Expedia group. So my question to you is… ? Who are you? What are you doing to step outside of your comfort zone and generate more confidence? Here are my 10 tips to sell with confidence so you can start answering this question:

1. Sell with Confidence by getting your mindset right

This starts from the morning routine to the night time routine, it starts with setting intentions for the day to supporting those intentions with self-talk interrogation, to positive affirmations

2. Sell with Confidence By Creating & Following a Plan

Take inspired action with a plan that fits your lifestyle – There is no point in following someone else’s plan because that will lead to burnout. 5. Use proven sales processes and do daily sales activities 

Some people mistake activity with progress. They believe if they are interacting on someone’s meme then they are building a relationship that may lead to sales. That is hope marketing.  There is no point implementing a marketing plan that doesn’t lead to SALES. You can’t make SALES without marketing because without marketing you’re invisible. You’ve heard it all before, I hear you. But all this MARKETING you are doing is supposed to do one thing. MARKETING is supposed to start an ideal SALES conversation. Marketing helps your ideal customer to know, like & trust you, if you are doing it right.

6. Sell with Confidence by Adding Value

Create premium offers – to transform your ideal client’s life.  Help them at where they are at, not where you want them to be. Regardless add value to the world.

7. Get uncomfortable and take more inspired action

sell with confidenceIt’s easier to do the things that we can do in our sleep. These things come easy to us so sure, why would we not do it? Our lives truly begin when we live in the #uncomfortzone. Do that live stream, even though no one is watching (because someone is always watching). Create an event, talk at an event, either way do something! Live outside your comfort zone and challenge yourself by participating in community challenges which will help you to gain the skills of learning by doing in your business and increase your overall confidence levels ✊

 

 

8. Sell with Confidence by inspiring your ideal clients

Your ideal clients will hire you for the energy you bring. If every business is selling the same solution but the only thing that sets them apart is the energy they are bringing, then surely we are not buying based on logic. We are buying because of emotions. Think about how you’re showing up.

9. Bring in new leads that you can nurture on a regular basis

Fear Shall Not Win!

Are you letting fear win? Sales Belief, Are Your Beliefs Stopping You?

I wasn’t selling because my sales beliefs kept my vision blurry.

What are sales beliefs?

In a nutshell sales beliefs are the beliefs you have around selling.

These beliefs are your truths.

How you see the world. My lack of sales belief, or belief that I can sell my value was the only reason as to why I didn’t sell daily. My own sales beliefs had a huge positive impact on my sales performance in one area.

But equally had a very negative impact in another.

 
? I did not believe that my sales funnels worked or making sales online was easy
 
? I definitely did not believe in myself
 
? I did not believe that people listened to me
 
I was not selling because I really didn’t believe in what I was selling?
 
Everyone loved that I had a mission and I stood for something great, I would add value to people’s businesses and lives, but I would never ask for the sale.
 
I was not selling intentionally. I was relying on referrals because I didn’t believe in what I was selling! I thought the work I was doing should be for free, after all I know this stuff, it comes easy to me, why should I charge? 
 

How my own sales beliefs stopped me in my social good business

 
When I started Dyslexic Success I had a vision of a peer to peer network of people with dyslexia that would help each other be successful.
 
My vision was to inspire equip those with neurodiversity’s (AKA learning disabilities).
Because I believe no man woman or child should be born into poverty or social exclusion because of their neurodiversity. 
 
Initially, I was super excited. I managed to gather over 80 highly intelligent minds which grew to 500 people in less than a year. I couldn’t wait to promote the next event to help people to get people upskilled in public speaking, sales, marketing & web design.
 
My vision was for them to learn skills and then sell their skills. Having a clear pathway for success would help my own son with autism know what is possible.
 
I had to battle against partners and customers that wouldn’t pay for the work, I had done on time or pay at all.  
Unsurprisingly along the way, my vision got blurred. Coupled with my insecurities of inadequacies as a newly diagnosed dyslexic, I entered overwhelm.
 
My doubts made me let others dictate the narrative and turn my vision into something else. It wasn’t my vision. I no longer believed in what I set out to do.
My vision had gotten blurred, I needed specs (aka a new presepctive) to see what was going on.
 

What Changed In Order To Shift My Sales Beliefs?

 
Acceptance & forgiveness: I accepted full responsibility for my sales beliefs which included entertaining people that were not on the same page as my vision. Lesson learnt: only when you process what happened and accept & forgive yourself for the part you played can you move on
Visions were daily: I went back to my original vision to solidify my positive sales beliefs. Lesson learnt: as Jobs said you can only connect the dots looking back, not looking forward. My strategy changed but my vision remained the same. I reminded myself about my vision every single day, a vision isn’t a set it and forget it activity. 
Intentions were my new best friend: I was intentional daily when it came to delivering that vision. Lesson learnt: setting intentions is a must to keep focused.
I became unapologetic: The difference this time was that I was not asking for permission. Lesson learnt: I started talking from a place of authority, power not lack & meekness.
 

What Can You Do To Change Your Sales Belief Mindset?

Step 1: Ask questions of yourself… ? Is it time to focus on people that deserve your attention?
 
? What are you allowing to happen day to day (no one can make you think things, you have to allow them)?
 
?  What do you need to do daily so your vision is never blurred?  
Step 2: Speak over your life with intention.
 
Here is my I AM sales belief statement.
 
I AM here to help you to Get More Sales, selling your value, the transformation you bring is what I believe is going to help impact the world.
What is your new sales belief?
I didn’t sell £120 million pounds worth of new business when I was selling to corporates just by luck, it was because I believed! So if you believe in what you are selling. If you believe in your vision, you will sell without thinking you’re being salesy! FYI salesy is not even a word.
 
So make sure that you are selling your vision, not someone else’s version of it.
 
It’s your constant vision and the sales belief that comes with it that will totally change your sales game and the world!
